The right adhesive for vehicle registration stickers

Someone made an adhesive mistake, and the registration or inspection stickers come off. Hate to see things come unglued!
The press release from the New York State DMV in May included this suggestion:
DMV is suggesting that customers reaffix any defective sticker to the vehicle with transparent tape or other adhesive.
May I suggest P2 Permanent PermaTack, a permanent pressure-sensitive adhesive?
While a quart is more than most drivers need, let me encourage sharing the remaining adhesive with other drivers unlucky enough to have this problem. Pay it forward.
